The house (4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms)
Les Pommiers is a 17 century village house, set back from the quiet village street. It is set in a handsome courtyard, completely enclosed by a high stone wall and gates, providing plenty of secure parking and a space for children to play safely.

The front door opens directly into the splendid kitchen/dining room with original stone floor, Burgundian oak beamed ceiling and open fireplace. At the far end is a well equipped kitchen with cooker, dishwasher and fridge. An ‘arriere cuisine’ (a small second kitchen) has a hob, fridge and microwave and a door leading to the terrace and garden.

There are two bedrooms downstairs, a double bedroom with ensuite shower room and window looking out to the orchard garden. The second bedroom has a single bed with a fold up bed for use, if necessary.

A spiral oak staircase leads up to the large elegant sitting room (about 45m) with a magnificent Burgundian stone fireplace and powerful wood burner. Original oak floor with rugs and comfortable furniture make this a truly delightful room. There are large windows at each end overlooking the courtyard at the front and the garden to the rear. For musicians there is a lovely old Pleyel grand piano which is available by arrangement. It is a fine space for chamber music.

Off the sitting room are two bedrooms, a double looking out over the garden and a room with two single beds plus a smaller child’s bed. The upstairs bathroom has bath/shower and toilet

The garden
You step out from the arriere cuisine onto the sunny terrace which looks out to a large walled garden which is mainly lawn and fruit trees. In the spring the blossom is beautiful, in autumn the trees are covered with apples and plums which you are welcome to eat.

The old bread oven is equipped with two barbecues, one gas and one charcoal. Under the gazebo is a large teak table and chairs for outdoor dining. The garden is a wonderful oasis of peace with plenty of space to disappear with a good book and glass of wine, or have a snooze in the hammock. Look out for the woodpeckers and nuthatches! Over the wall is the potager of the Chateau with large trees, and in the distance the wooded far side of the Aube valley.
